Development of E-government in European Countries: A Cluster AnalysisJiří SlezákActa academica karviniensia 2023, 23(2):59-72 | DOI: 10.25142/aak.2023.015 E-government is currently a term that has been resonating in the public space for several years, which is why a lot of attention is being paid to it. Some states of the European Union are doing better, and some are worse in this area. Given this trend, all states must increase their efforts towards more effective e-government. The article aims to create clusters of European Union states in 2020 and 2022 according to their level of e-government. The sample consists of 27 states of the European Union, and the indicators used include the E-Government Development Index, E-participation index, Online service index, Telecommunication Infrastructure Index, and Human capital index. In addition, the objective of the article is achieved through correlation and cluster analysis. The countries of the European Union were divided into six clusters in 2020 and 2022. The best cluster in both years includes Finland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden, while the worst countries include, for example, Bulgaria and Romania. In general, the countries that were the best/worst in 2020 are also the best/worst in 2022. |
EVALUATION OF BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE INVOLVEMENT IN DECISION-MAKING PROCESSES IN CZECH COMPANIES ACCORDING TO THE BUSINESS SECTORPetra KašparováActa academica karviniensia 2022, 22(1):75-86 | DOI: 10.25142/aak.2022.006 The article aims to present the current level of business intelligence involvement in Czech companies in decision-making processes. A mere software implementation of these tools cannot be considered a success. Therefore, the article focuses mainly on the subsequent practical application. The obtained outputs are based on a questionnaire survey (341 respondents included) dealing with the active usage of business intelligence. The branch of business was chosen as a critical factor in the entire study and a subsequent analysis. Although, almost in half of the companies, business intelligence is not still actively used, the research showed a high level of satisfaction with data processing across business sectors. The lowest satisfaction was reported among the youngest respondents and those working in middle and operational management. The owners and top management should give significant support in facilitating decision-making processes to these key groups of employees that are on a daily basis under the decision-making pressure. |
THE IDENTIFICATION OF THE FACTORS WITH REGARD TO THE INFLUENCE OF REFERENCE GROUPS ON THE THEATRICAL MARKET IN THE CZECH REPUBLICKatarína SeifriedováActa academica karviniensia 2019, 19(4):60-71 | DOI: 10.25142/aak.2019.026 The paper focuses on the theatre market in the Czech Republic and examines the influence of reference groups within this market. It specifically focuses on the information influence, the utilitarian influence and the influence expressing value. The aim of the paper is to identify factors that would reflect the influence of reference groups. The correlation analysis and factor analysis were used for this purpose. Respondents who participated in the online survey expressed their agreement with fourteen statements concerning the three influences of the reference groups which were mentioned. They were evaluated using a seven-point Likert scale. The data were collected from 154 respondents who have visited theatre performances at least once in the last 2 years. The collected data were weighted at first as they did not correspond to the relative distribution of the population of the Czech Republic by gender. The data then entered a factor analysis. The result of this analysis was the emergence of four factors influencing the reference groups. They were named as: social influence, influence of relatives, professional influence and media influence. The paper describes the theoretical basis of the influence of reference groups, followed by methodology and analytical procedure. The conclusion contains an evaluation of the fulfilment of goals and possible use of the results. |
METHODS AND APPROACHES IN RISK MANAGEMENT - AN OVERVIEW OF POSSIBILITIES OF THEIR CATEGORIZATIONMartina ŽwakováActa academica karviniensia 2018, 18(1):68-81 | DOI: 10.25142/aak.2018.007 As a result of constant changes in a business environment, companies are confronted with a significant number of risks. Such development is supposed to bring higher risk management requirements. Demands on systematic risk management framework creation are also newly included in revised ISO 9001:2016 standard. Under these conditions, companies should pay sufficient attention to risk management methods. The aim of the paper is to focus on risk management methods and their possible evaluation. Particular views on existing evaluation or classification of methods available from resources focused on the issue of the risk management methods are described and possibilities for further categorization of methods are outlined. In the paper an attempt to examine approaches to risk management and methods in a real business environment through a questioning. Due to a smaller number of respondents the questioning is used as a complementary to the overview of methods and approaches and to provide a starting point for a further research. |
SITUATION OF THE POPULATION IN THE EUROPEAN UNION MEMBER STATESMartin GreššActa academica karviniensia 2014, 14(1):66-75 | DOI: 10.25142/aak.2014.007 Demographic development of the world population suggests the continual shift toward the population ageing. This effect may be clearly seen in developed countries of the European Union. The aim of the article is to analyze basic demographic and economic characteristics of the European Union as a whole and also of individual member states. We try to find similar and different characteristics of groups of member countries based on cluster analysis and basic demographic and economic indicators. We come to conclusion that old member states (those that accessed the EU before 2004) and new member states (those that accessed the EU after 2004) show different development of basic demographic indicators which suggests that convergence between these two groups is not likely to happen in the near future. |
BUILDING SYNTHETIC SOCIAL NETWORKS USING ASSOCIATION RULES AND CLUSTERING METHODS: CASE STUDY ON GLOBAL TERRORISM DATABASEJan Górecki, Kateřina SlaninováActa academica karviniensia 2013, 13(3):56-68 | DOI: 10.25142/aak.2013.042 The authors of the paper present an approach for datamining methods combination (method for association rules extraction and clustering method are combined) which is used for synthetic social networks construction which afterwards represents potentially interesting relations in analyzed data. Described approach is feasible for general data, principles of described approach, examples and experiments are illustrated on a part of unique database, which contain data about terroristic attack committed on all over the World (Global Terrorism Database). Thus this paper also extend framework of papers focused on analysis of this unique database. |

We have been evaluating kinetic performances of young figure skaters in a test battery which was focused on expression of explosive strength of legs. Testing procedure has completed about 280 young figure skaters aged 6 - 19 years. To find eventual hidden relations among monitored variables and to confirm or to overcome assumed causal relations we have used selected analytical methods from Data Mining methodology. |
