The article deals with one of the objectives of the Europe 2020 strategy, and that is education. The introduction points to two intermediate targets specified within this objective and to the factors that influence indicator of educational attainment, respectively the factors that are affected by indicator. The base of the paper is about the description of the current state of achieving the targets both in the population who early leave education and training, as well as in the population having completed tertiary education. It compares the level of achievement of objectives in the Member States in 2013, with more attention paid to the V4 countries and development of indicators in these countries over the past 10 years. The article also assesses the degree of fulfillment, respectively failure of the two sub-objectives in education and based on the findings, using regression analysis, it highlights the possible and required development of indicators so that the individual V4 countries achieved the target values until the year 2020.
