Publishing ethics

Journal Acta academica karviniensia is published with the principles governing the intellectual property rights, discouraging any attempt of plagiarism, regardless of its forms (deliberate or involuntary, self-plagiarism etc.). The journal uses plagiarism detection tools to screen all submitted manuscripts. Editor reserves the right to reject the paper, unless signs of plagiarism or has violated another basic principle of publication ethics.
Journal Acta academica karviniensia follows the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing presented by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

Authorship

Authorship should be clearly stated and limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the manuscript and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the manuscript and have agreed to its submission for publication.

Authors' duties and responsibilities

In all reviewed papers, any kind of plagiarism or fraudulent data are strictly prohibited. At the same time, it is forbidden to publish the same research data/outcome in more than one peer-reviewed journal.
By sending the paper to journal Acta academica karviniensia, the authors confirm that the submitted article is original, it has not been published in any other periodical and it will not be offered for publishing to any other publisher without the consent of the board of editors of the Acta academica karviniensia journal. By submitting the paper authors consent to its distribution and placing on the Internet after its publishing in Acta academica karviniensia journal.

Authors should ensure that:
• the paper is original and written by them;
• the paper has not been published in any other journal and has been submitted for consideration to Acta academica karviniensia journal only;
• the data has been obtained by the authors directly or they have all legal permissions to use the data obtained from private businesses or other independent sources;
• the data is original and not manipulated;
• have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others this must be appropriately cited or quoted;
• all references used in the paper are clearly cites (in accordance with citation norm) and authors should use only citations that are relevant to their manuscripts; irrelevant self citation to increase one’s citation and unnecessary citation of articles for the sole purpose of increasing the articles’ citation are unethical;
• the paper does not break any copyrights of others;
• the paper includes funding acknowledgment; in case the paper was supported by an institution or grant;
• there is no conflict of interest between the co-authors or with third parties;
• they are obliged to participate in the peer-review process, responding timely and politely to all comments of the reviewers;
• they agree with minor corrections of the contents, including the title, phrasing, style, etc.;
• in the papers they will discuss the benefits of their research objectively, based on the publishing rules, including compliance with citation standards and guidelines of the Acta Academica Karviniensia journal.

Editors’ and the editing team’ duties and responsibilities

The Editors and members of the Editorial Board undertake to ensure objective evaluation of the manuscript, solely on the basis of its academic qualities. It is obligatory to observe the anonymous evaluation of the manuscript by the reviewers, as well as the anonymity of reviewers. The manuscript is forwarded to at least two reviewers for double-blind peer review, each of whom will make a recommendation to publish the manuscript in its present form, to modify the manuscript, or to reject the manuscript.

Editors:
• must keep and promote ethical policies of the journal;
• ensure the confidentiality of the review process for both sides involved;
• make a decision on publication or rejecting the paper according to the scientific importance/quality, interest to readers, Reviewers’ comments and the related legal requirements (i.e. plagiarism, breach of copyright, etc.);
• reserve the right to make minor amendments to the text or return it back to the author for further revision;
• reserve the right to refuse the manuscript without the review process due to inappropriate quality of the manuscript, a different focus or violation of legal requirements (i.e. plagiarism, breach of copyright, etc.);
• must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher;
• have a duty to act if there is a suspicion of misconduct or if an allegation of misconduct is revealed.

Reviewers' duties and responsibilities

Papers in this scientific journal have been double-blind reviewed by a minimum of two independent experts in the relevant field of interest. Reviewers are always selected with adequate diligence in order to be qualified by business expertise and/or academic research history.

Reviewers are obligated:
• to maintain the confidentiality of the review process;
• to have the objective judgement about any paper suggested for their review;
• to have no conflict of interest with respect to the research, authors, and/or research funders;
• to alert immediately the journal editor about any real or potential competing interest that could affect the independence of the review itself;
• not to use any part of the material obtained for blind review in their own publications or unpublished research studies without proper citing.
• to keep the information regarding manuscripts submitted by authors confidential and be treated as privileged information.
