PERFORMANCE INDICATORS ASSESSMENT OF INSURANCE COMPANIES IN NON-LIFE INSURANCE BY APPLYING DECOMPOSITION MULTI-CRITERIA METHODSMartina Borovcová, Zuzana FolvarschiActa academica karviniensia 2019, 19(4):5-17 | DOI: 10.25142/aak.2019.021 The aim of the article is to determine and verify the key indicators of the assessment of the level of management of non-life insurance companies by applying multi-criteria decomposition methods. The specific indicators considered include standard financial analysis indicators (equity ratio, total debt ratio, return on equity indicator and return on assets), specific financial indicators of insurance companies (claims ratio, capital adequacy ratio, technical adequacy ratio, solvency ratio indicator and more) and indicators that are used to analyze the level of the insurance market (gross premiums written, net premiums earned and number of insurance contracts concluded). Firstly, multicriteria decomposition methods are described: analytical hierarchical process and analytical network process. Both approaches are described including the calculation procedure. Subsequently, they are applied in determining the preferences of indicators of the assessment of the level of management of insurance companies. Our results show the resulting preferences of individual indicators for assessing the level of performance of non-life insurance companies and key indicators. The most important indicators that can be described as the key indicators with a high preference are return on equity indicator, gross premiums written, return on assets, claims ratio and solvency ratio indicator. |
IMPACT OF OCCUPANCY IN COLLECTIVE ACCOMMODATION ESTABLISHMENTS IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC ON THE SELECTED MACROECONOMIC VARIABLES IN THE YEARS 2001 - 2015Patrik Kajzar, Klára VáclavínkováActa academica karviniensia 2017, 17(1):41-54 | DOI: 10.25142/aak.2017.004 The aim of this paper is to assess the impact of occupancy in collective accommodation establishments in the Czech Republic at an average rate of unemployment (%) to GDP (%) and the average pace of real wage growth (%) between 2001-2015. The methods are regression and correlation analysis. The output is then to evaluate the impact of occupancy on the selected parameters. The most significant impact in collective accommodation establishments can be observed in occupancy at the average rate of unemployment. When we are comparing the GDP growth parameters and occupancy collective accommodation establishments there is no evidence of a linear relationship. |
USE OF INTEGRATED APPROACH TO DISPARITIES EVALUATION IN COUNTRIES AND REGIONS OF VISEGRAD FOUR IN COMPARISON WITH AUSTRIA AND GERMANYLukáš Melecký, Michaela StaníčkováActa academica karviniensia 2014, 14(2):71-85 | DOI: 10.25142/aak.2014.029 The paper evaluates the level of economic, social and territorial disparities in 6 selected EU Member States and 83 NUTS 2 regions in case of Visegrad Four, Austria and Germany during reference period 2000-2010. The evaluation analysis is based on selected mathematical and statistical methods that lead to construction of simple (non-weighted) synthetic indices of economic, social and territorial disparities and weighted synthetic aggregate index of disparities. The theoretical part of the paper defines the concept of disparities and cohesion in the EU and methodological background of convenient statistical methods for regional disparities evaluation. The empirical part of the paper deals with the measurement, evaluation and comparison of disparities rates in all the selected EU countries and NUTS 2 regions through computed values of synthetic sub-indices of economic, social and territorial disparities and weighted (aggregate) synthetic index of disparities. All the synthetic indices are calculated on the basis of Z-score standardized variables using Euclidean distance method. |
