Size and Profitability of Enterprises in the Czech Republic in Relation to Working Capital ManagementMarkéta İeligováActa academica karviniensia 2023, 23(1):118-132 | DOI: 10.25142/aak.2023.010 The article is focused on the size and profitability of companies in the Czech Republic in relation to working capital management. The aim of the article is to find out whether and to what extent working capital and working capital management influence the size of companies and the profitability of companies operating in the manufacturing industry and the wholesale and retail sector. The generalized method of moments (GMM method) will be used to determine the goal of the article. Annual data for the period 2008 to 2021 of companies operating according to the CZ-NACE classification in the manufacturing industry and the retail and wholesale trade sectors will be included in the research. Using the GMM method, a statistically significant relationship between working capital management on the one hand and the profitability and size of companies on the other hand was demonstrated. Cash conversion cycle, current assets, short-term liabilities and working capital have an impact on the size and profitability of businesses in the Czech Republic. |
THE EFFECTS OF STRUCTURAL EMPOWERMENT ON CORPORATE REPUTATION AND ORGANIZATIONAL IDENTIFICATIONHüseyin Erkul, Pelin Kanten, Gülten GümüştekinActa academica karviniensia 2018, 18(3):27-40 | DOI: 10.25142/aak.2018.018 This study aims to investigate the effects of structural empowerment on corporate reputation and the mediating role of organizational identification. Within the literature, studies suggest that some organizational factors improve employees' perception of corporate reputation levels. Therefore, structural empowerment and organizational identification are considered as predictors' of corporate reputation levels of employees in scope of the study. For the purpose of the research, the data which were collected from 178 administrative staff in Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University by the survey method were analyzed by using hierarchical regression analysis. The results of study revealed that all dimensions of structural empowerment such as participatory decision-making environment, accountable and supportive environment and facilitative environment have positive and significant effects on employees' perception of corporate reputation levels. Besides, it was also found out that organizational identification has positive and significant effect on the perception of employees' corporate reputation levels. In addition, organizational identification has a mediating role in the relationship between structural empowerment dimensions and perception levels of employees' corporate reputation. |
THE THEORY OF ADAPTABILITYKarel SlintákActa academica karviniensia 2013, 13(3):167-178 | DOI: 10.25142/aak.2013.053 The article deals with a theory of adaptability. The article aims to create the concept of an adaptive organization by system thinking. It indicates a low adaptability of organizations in the global competitive market and reveals generic structure of survival. A key element of organizational survival is adaptability, which means the ability to learn. Organizations can adapt only provided that they will develop and maintain a need of exploration and change, and they will eliminate defensive routine. The adaptive organization has a high threshold of perception and consciousness, which means that the existing sensory systems in the organizations must be changed. These systems have to leave the limits of financial accounting, stop to concentrate on the past and focus on the information needed to create the future. Adaptive model is formed by a theory of the business, organizational improvement and development of external corporate culture. Practices and techniques that are a part of the adaptive model lead to systematic analyses of organizational identity, a core of the competences and market opportunities which are essential precondition for development and creation of the immune system of organization. |

Changes in management of supply chain happen with development of clients' needs and technological possibilities of cooperating partners. Globalization of economic companies' cooperation (e.g. in delivery, production and distribution processes), technological growth and innovative manners of economic activity, as well as stronger competition and shorter products life cycles on markets have caused pressure on changes of dimensions of supply chains' acts - shorter time of order's realization, global scope of activity, bigger elasticity and durability. One of fundamental tool of supporting business processes became electronic data interchange through the Internet. It has caused epoch-making change for clients' values - independent access to information about products' flow and localization of supply chain's partners. |
VYZNAM DOPRAVY V LOGISTICE PODNIKUMarta Wilczková, Petr VlèekActa academica karviniensia 2011, 11(3):178-185 | DOI: 10.25142/aak.2011.057 The article deals with the importance of transport and transport systems within the logistics management of supplier-customer chains. Suitable management of transport costs constitutes the part of the management of total logistics costs of enterprises. The aim of the enterprise is to increase the value of the product for the customer while reducing overall costs so that the enterprise can better apply the competitive advantage that is associated with the optimal use of traffic and transport processes. As the result of the development of information and communications technologies used for the management of the transport within and out the enterprise, the companies can make better use of the limited resources and information, which enable the support of the logistics objectives of the company. Due to better cooperation with key partners the logistics network will be developing and will enable to increase the efficiency of individual enterprises. |
